Glass walls are fused with 14 inch diameter beech logs and a tree is sprouting from the middle of the retail floor. Smell the chlorine, hear the crash of curling waves and see a fearless teen flow boarding – inside the store?

In late 2007 WoodHaven Log & Lumber was called upon by contractor John Ryan Company of Plymouth, Massachusetts, to help create an extreme retail setting at the soon to open Adrenalina store in Miami, Florida. Five large beech logs were split in half and milled with a challenging dado (interior groove) cut – particularly difficult on a hard wood tree. The dado groove allowed the contractor to piece the 12 foot logs around the support system connecting the large exterior panes of glass that surround the store. After the multi-step milling process, the logs were screwed back together, loaded and shipped from Northern Michigan to the South Florida location. To help complete the theme, an aspen tree was also cut and shipped with branches intact for “re-planting” in the middle of the store.
