Hanging out with Tiny House Nation cast

After having our products featured in several shows, we were invited to be on the set for the making of a Tiny House Nation TV episode. It was a blast. It’s veiled in secrecy so all we can say is that it was in Minnesota — and we caught a ballgame.

We can’t say enough about everybody; They’re good people to hang with. Leaving was like leaving friends we’ve known for 20 years.

We got to meet the featured homeowner and meet the crew. We don’t take any of this for granted for a second, and want to share the WHYs behind it.

Tiny House Nation called us from New York because they liked our website. Yes, our website. If you’re a business owner — and particularly one that sells products — take note. Our website was the spark. It’s loaded with quality photos of our products. It’s easy to navigate, written in our voice and speaks to our readers. We also happen to think it’s beautiful.

You know how the teacher appears when the student is ready? Same can be said for being prepared for the Big Time. We’d noticed the Tiny House movement out west a few years ago. My son said, “We need to build one of those tiny houses on a trailer.”

Since then, we’ve created custom models on display at our Mio location, hauled custom ones to homebuilder shows, and sold eight custom tiny cabins with every mix of our materials you could imagine.

It’s funny that we think Tiny House Nation called us out of the blue. They did, but they didn’t. Businesses sometimes make business so complicated. It’s quite simple: Create a quality product, stand behind it, be reliable, deliver dependable service, and give customers what they need. Do all of this with integrity and your business will grow. We’re a great case study.

Now it’s not just Tiny House Nation people asking us to partner with them, featured homeowners (customers) are choosing us. For this episode, the customer chose our tongue-and-groove siding and paneling (not sheets, of course) in different colors and shades on both the interior and exterior.

Having our products featured on a TV show that’s developed and produced by people who appreciate quality is a big deal. Meeting those folks, a homeowner utilizing our material, and being behind the scenes was huge. We’re going to be featured in two shows next season. We might meet with the crew in Colorado to do another on-site shoot with them.

Keep an eye on this movement. Tiny houses are popping up in urban areas in need of housing and on/near college campuses. We’re going to continue to be part of it.
