The proof is in higher wood quality — and drone footage!

It does not matter what type of project you are building, if you go with sub-par products you can expect sub-par results!  I have been a builder for 18 years and know that selling out to cheaper products means that you are going to have to expect the project to take longer than it should. Sorting through inferior products takes time which undoubtedly costs more money in the long run.

I have personally had multiple conversations about cheaper wood products with the owners of WoodHaven over the past 15 Years that I have been a customer there. I have seen the outcome on projects when people use lower quality wood products in their projects: The final result is not as stunning as the results we receive from the products here. It takes more time, effort and money to get an acceptable finished product.

Here is a short list of what I explain to my customers about buying any of the products that WoodHaven has to offer:

  • They offer a prefinished product that we do not have to apply a clear coat or stain before we install, saving myself or the customer more time by not having to do this process;
  • Boards do not expand and contract nearly as much as competitors’ products due to the strict tolerances that Rick and Ryan have in place during the drying process;
  • It holds its shape and joints do not open up in the changing seasons;
  • Over the duration of time, the products just look better.

When I first met WoodHaven owners Rick and Ryan Bills, it was after a trip to check out a local competitor’s showroom and products. I did not get from any of the employees at that showroom or even an acknowledgement that I was even there. On the way home I stopped by WoodHaven to check it out. After meeting Rick for the first time he loaded me up with samples of their products and gladly gave me a tour of the operation to explain what sets them apart from the competition. I’ve since used their knotty pine and cedar paneling in the multiple widths, barn wood and assorted half log siding, Adirondack siding, mantels and stair treats and railings.

WoodHaven dries their products as I said to a tight tolerance of 6% to 8% moisture content, which minimizes the expansion and contraction of the products. I consider a cabin that I built in Grayling to be a flagship project. Please feel free to check out the drone footage on the home page of their website. Feel free to check out our website at www.tabuildersincorporated.com to check out collaborative projects we have used their products on.

If you should have any questions about any of the products that WoodHaven offers, feel free to email me at [email protected]. I’d be happy to answer any questions you may have.
