Where’s the tiny cabin?

We left the WoodHaven tiny cabin that was on display at the Novi Home Improvement Show down there because the organizers of the upcoming Great Lakes Builders Show approached us and asked us to be at their event this month.

It’s in a safe spot — and you will have another chance to see it soon.

We were surprised, excited and overwhelmed (in every good way possible) by the response to our tiny cabins. The fully dressed version (complete with our hickory cabinets, a sleeper-sofa, curtains and art) started getting attention from security and event staff before the show even opened.

Still, we didn’t think we’d have a line to walk through the cabin the entire time we were there!

The Detroit News & Free Press did a nice piece on us in their Homestyle insert, as did WJBK FOX 2 and WDIV TV 4 and WXYZ 7 Detroit TV stations.

America’s Master Handyman (www.masterhandyman.com), Glenn Haege stopped by and said he was going to bring his wife by because she’d want to see it. A good friend of ours called from Mio to let us know he heard Glenn talking about us on WJR radio.

We were so glad we had enough WoodHaven hands on deck to meet and greet everyone. Lots of people told us that our tiny cabin was the reason they had come to the show. The one on display had a loft and 312 square feet of living space. Even with all the furniture and appliances, people still said it was roomy.

We ran out of brochures! We have about 300 names and addresses of people who want one in the mail. Within two days of the show we had a bunch of people contact us for more details about options.

In a decade of doing shows, we’ve never been at one like this. Our tiny cabins are hot. A couple of them might even serve as art studios!

Our Adirondack siding remains one of the most popular exterior choices, but you should take a look and decide for yourself. Our quarter log and barn wood siding options look awesome too. If you want to see some right now, our website has lots of photos..
