To best serve our clients with superior wood siding for their home exteriors, we understood that we needed to source from the best wood possible. Luckily for us, some of the best quality wood in the world happens to grow right here in our home state of Michigan. White pine is the official Michigan state tree, and it is the wood we base our exterior siding products on.
So why is white pine an American favorite when it comes to wood? It’s really no surprise, as the material is easy to work with and can be used in many different applications such as carpentry, interiors, and exteriors. White pine is also readily available from Michigan’s logging history as it was the primary wood during the state’s pioneer days of the late 19th century.
One point of pride for us is that our white pine can bring a feeling of home to anyone from our state, especially those who have moved out of Michigan. We at WoodHaven once had a customer who now resides in Hawaii that wanted to bring a piece of Michigan to his new home–so he ordered Michigan white pine from us! You can take the man out of Michigan, but you can’t take Michigan out of the man.
